Sioux Falls Canaries 1924

 

Sioux Falls was managed by Frank Boyle for the 1924 season. The team was in second place in the league when the league fell apart.

While the Spalding Guide did not give any records for the year some information is known about the various clubs in the league.

According to the Sporting News for May 1, 1924 the following players were expected to be regulars for Sioux Falls in 1924.
Roster:
Snow catcher, formerly with Buffalo in the International League.

Polonius third base, formerly with Bloomington in the three-I league.

Meir second base from the Dakota League.

Jenkins who had a tryout with St. Joe's of the Western League was expected to be a regular in the infield.

Menard was picked up from Waterloo in the Mississippi Valley League.

Meyer was a semi-pro infielder who was expected to make the team.

Dye was expected to be at first. He was with Lincoln in the NSL in 1923.

The also signed outfielders Conner who played for Waterloo, Knight from the University of Minnesota and Fluery a semi-pro phenom.

Pitchers included Cooley and Sulivan of the 1932 Lincoln team and Mapel who was with Mitchell in the old South Dakota League.

Frank Cleve was expected to join the team to solidify the infield.
