The 1914 York team played in Park's Park. They were 5th in hitting for the year with only one regular averaging over .300 for the season. They were 6th in fielding. In June they managed to move into second place for a few weeks then fell to 4th where they finished the season.

On August 20th they York team executed a triple play against Superior. They lost the game.

Roster:

First base was handled by Earl Chase. He averaged .191 in 57 games for York and .262 in 55 games for Omaha in the class "A" Western League.

In the dirt at second base was E. Harris. He averaged .254 and played in 57 games. Alternating with Harris was manager Maury Pierce who averaged .221. Maury Pierce is called James Pierce by baseball-reference.com. He played for Manhattan in 1910 and 1911, managed York in 1914 and 1915. Of course the league folded in 1915. He managed Battle Creek in 1920, Port Huron in 1921 and Kitchener in 1922.

The hot corner was averaged by Wayne Totten. He averaged .250 in 112 games.

Short stop was fielded by Eddie Rice, who averaged .233 in 107 games.

The tools of ignorance were put on by Albert Schissel. In 95 games he averaged .258.

Outfield

George Clarke played in 94 games and led the team with a .323 average.

Buzz Murphy was a 19 year old rookie from Colorado. He played in 112 games and averaged .280. He played 9 games for the Boston Braves in 1918 and 79 games for Washington in 1919. He also played for Des Moines, Minneapolis and Marshalltown.

John Bechtold played in 98 games and averaged .213.

Bernsen played in 17 games and averaged .111 and Horace Ash averaged .160 in 25 games.

James Mulvey averaged .272 in 25 games. James also played for Jamestown, Superior (Nothern League) and Haverhill in 1914.

Pitchers:

Arthur Haley was 11-5.

Leo Harris was 17-12 with 188 k's.

Mack Osborne was 14-11 and had 131 k's for the year.

Bert Miller was 2-1.

Roland Skylock was 12-12 and Bockemnehl was 0-3.
